Mim bartos, OTR/L, IMH-E®

Licensed Occupational Therapist Infant Mental Health Specialist

Beyond Sensory

Beyond Sensory offers a variety of services focused on building regulation capacity and understanding of individual needs for greater success and fulfillment in life.

Children and parents are supported with a family-centered, play-based therapy program utilizing a parent-coaching model tailored to your family and child’s unique needs. In this approach, parents and caregivers partner with their provider in supporting their child’s development. The goal is to support and empower parents/caregivers to understand their children and gain skills to promote success on a daily basis within their family unit. Meetings are scheduled periodically between sessions to discuss, in greater detail, the coaching strategies used during sessions.

Individuals are supported to understand unique differences affecting nervous system regulation and develop skills to best meet needs. Body work approaches including Craniosacral Therapy and TEB (Transforming the Experienced-based Brain) co-regulating touch are direct intervention modalities available to promote nervous system regulation.

Your therapist's specialized approach addresses sensory processing and beyond to help individuals actively and joyfully participate in life. Relationships are essential foundations for regulation and development. Therefore, in addition to sensory integration and processing, we’ll address components such as attunement, social engagement, and emotion regulation. Sessions are relationship-based and trauma informed. Sessions are primarily completed in the office or via telehealth. Community, school, and home-based sessions are available as needed to assess needs and promote carry over of supportive strategies.

Your Beyond Sensory therapist has over 20 years of experience and advanced trainings and certifications in Sensory Integration and Processing, DIR/Floortime, Infant Mental Health, Circle of Security Parenting, Polyvagal Theory, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Trauma informed care, SOS Approach to Feeding, Interactive Metronome, Safe and Sound Protocol, Integrated Listening Systems, and TEB co-regulating touch for regulation and trauma. Concepts from these areas are integrated into your program to offer you the most holistic experience in supporting your/ your family’s success.
